Townsville
SEO and digital marketing for Townsville businesses
Townsville
Is your business showing up when Townsville locals search for what you do? If the honest answer is "sometimes" or "I'm not sure", that's the right place to start.
I'm Anthony Holmes. I work with Townsville businesses through The Bearded Marketer, my consultancy for websites, SEO, Google Ads and Google Business Profile. I'm based in Cairns, and Townsville is part of the area I look after. You deal with me directly, from the first conversation to the monthly check in. We can meet in person where it's practical, or over video where that's easier for you.
SEO
SEO in Townsville, built on the basics done properly
Most Townsville businesses don't have a ranking problem as much as a clarity problem. Google can't work out exactly what they do, where they do it, or why anyone should choose them. SEO fixes that in a sensible order.
First, the technical foundation: a site that loads quickly on a phone, can be crawled and indexed, and has clean page titles, headings and structured business data. Then, pages that match the way people actually search. Someone in Kirwan or Aitkenvale doesn't type "solutions provider". They type the service and the place. Each core service deserves its own page that answers the questions people ask before they call.
Then come the local signals: consistent business details across directories, reviews from real customers, and links from local organisations that know you. None of it is a trick. It's the steady work that compounds over time. You can read more about how I approach it on my SEO services page.
AI search
Getting named in AI answers
Google now answers a lot of local questions with an AI Overview before anyone sees a list of websites, and more people ask ChatGPT or their phone to recommend someone. The businesses that get named are the ones with clear service pages, consistent details and genuine reviews. I explain what's changed in my guide to AI and local search.
Local search
Local SEO and your Google Business Profile
For a lot of Townsville businesses, the Google Business Profile does more work than the website. It's what shows on the map when someone searches for a mechanic in Garbutt or a cafe in North Ward. It's where people read your reviews, check your hours and tap to call.
I make sure your profile has the right primary category, accurate service areas, real photos, regular updates and a simple way to ask happy customers for a review. If you travel to customers across Townsville, the Burdekin or Charters Towers, the profile should say so clearly. My local SEO service covers this in full, and my Google Business Profile checklist is a good place to start if you'd like to do it yourself.
Websites
Websites built to earn the call
A good-looking website that doesn't make the phone ring is an expensive brochure. The sites I plan are built mobile first, explain what you do and where in the first few seconds, show real proof, and make it easy to call, book or send an enquiry from every page. They're also built with search in mind from day one, so you're not paying twice to fix it later. See how I approach website design.
Advertising
Google Ads scoped to Townsville
Google Ads buys visibility today while SEO builds. The key is spending only where your customers are. I set campaigns up around the Townsville area and the services that actually pay, with call tracking so you can see what a lead really costs. More on my Google Ads management.
